The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the collection and reporting of data on EDE, beginning in SY 2019-20. The Department urges abundant caution when using the data and recommends reviewing the relevant data notes prior to use or interpretation. This includes data on state assessments, graduation rates, and chronic absenteeism.

2020-2021 ALL STATES 175, 179, 178, 185, 188, 189 583, 584, 585, 588, 589, 590 Performance ED recommends users of the SY 2020-21 Assessment Data review the data notes and state explanations to understand the full context of state, local, and school implementation of the statewide assessments. Due to the circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic, ED waived the reporting of the statewide assessments in the 2019-2020 school year and encouraged states to consider flexibilities regarding the timing, length, and type of administration of assessments in the 2020-2021 school year. Please be sure to review ED's letter at https/oese.ed.gov/files/2021/02/DCL-on-assessments-and-acct-final.pdf regarding assessments for 2020-21. Statewide assessments were administered in most States in 2020-21 but, due to continued disruptions from the pandemic, rates of participation varied widely in schools throughout the country. Because assessment participation varied so widely, overall results for schools, districts and States may not be representative for those entities, and data for the school year 2020-2021 data may not be comparable with other years. The state notes in all sections of ED Data Express reflect the views of the state only and do not necessarily reflect compliance with requirements or consistency with reporting instructions.
2020-2021 ALL STATES 175, 179, 178, 185, 188, 189 583, 584, 585, 588, 589, 590 Performance Although SY20-21 assessment data were collected, due to COVID-19 challenges, the data are not comparable to other years. Therefore, the Department is not including SY20-21 assessment data on the performance graph on this dashboard. The state notes in all sections of ED Data Express reflect the views of the state only and do not necessarily reflect compliance with requirements or consistency with reporting instructions.
2020-2021 MISSISSIPPI 175 583 Performance Across File Comparison: The difference between the number of grade 6 migratory students who were assessed on the mathematics assessment and received a valid score reported in FS175/DG583 and the number of grade 6 eligible migratory students reported in FS121/DG634 is greater than 10 percent. The data are accurate. Variances between the two files are due to the difference in the collection periods and delayed synchronization between migrant data system and student information system.
