The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the collection and reporting of data on EDE, beginning in SY 2019-20. The Department urges abundant caution when using the data and recommends reviewing the relevant data notes prior to use or interpretation. This includes data on state assessments, graduation rates, and chronic absenteeism.

2020-2021 IDAHO 037 548 Participation Year to Year Comparison: The SEA data indicate a change of -15.7% between the current school year and the prior school year number of English learners participating and served by Title I, Part A schoolwide programs and targeted assistance programs (Category Set C). The test for exiting the EL program was changed between 19-20 and 20-21. Exiting criteria was lowered so more students qualified to exit the program, thus the lower number reported.
2020-2021 OKLAHOMA 037 548 Participation Year to Year Comparison: The SEA data indicate a change of 11.8% between the current school year and the prior school year number of English learners participating and served by Title I, Part A schoolwide programs and targeted assistance programs (Category Set C). Oklahoma has made a concerted effort to encourage more thorough EL student identification plus the fact that overall Oklahoma's Title I participation counts increased in 20-21 by almost 10%. Both of these factors contribute to the increase in the year to year comparison.
2020-2021 IOWA 037 548 Participation Year to Year Comparison: The SEA data indicate a change of 277.4% between the current school year and the prior school year number of Migratory students participating and served by Title I, Part A schoolwide programs and targeted assistance programs (Category Set D). Data are accurate. In 19-20, districts had increased difficulty in finding minority students due to higher mobility rates during the COVID-19 pandemic. 20-21 numbers are consistent with years prior to 19-20.
