The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the collection and reporting of data on EDE, beginning in SY 2019-20. The Department urges abundant caution when using the data and recommends reviewing the relevant data notes prior to use or interpretation. This includes data on state assessments, graduation rates, and chronic absenteeism.

2020-2021 MONTANA 151 696 Performance Four-Year Cohort Count to IDEA Exiting Comparison: The number of CWD Four-Year Cohort graduates reported in FS151 does not match the number of students reported as having graduated with a regular high school diploma in FS 009. The discrepancy comprises 294 students and is a difference of 27.66%. FS009 is The unduplicated number of students with disabilities (IDEA) who are ages 14 through 21, were in special education at the start of the reporting period and were not in special education at the end of the reporting period. Exiting is only looking at students who graduated from the district they started in for their senior year, and were being served on an IEP at the time they started. We lose a whole lot of kids because they move mid-year, so they are counted as movers, not graduates. FS151 does not require that the students are identified as IDEA in October at the school they graduate from; therefore, for FS151, we have students that were identified or transferred in to a public school after the [child] count date in October as IDEA.
2020-2021 NEW HAMPSHIRE 151 696 Performance Four-Year Cohort Count to IDEA Exiting Comparison: The number of CWD Four-Year Cohort graduates reported in FS151 does not match the number of students reported as having graduated with a regular high school diploma in FS 009. The discrepancy comprises 338 students and is a difference of 21.5%. There are many reasons why there are differences in the data for the two files. FS009 is reported by the students that NH is fiscally responsible for and only includes students who had an IEP in effect on 7/1 of the given reporting school year. The FS151 file only includes cohorts of students based on when they were expected to graduate, includes students who attended NH public schools (schools/districts of attendance vs. district of liability), and includes all students who graduated regardless of age. In addition, students are included in the FS151 file in the "CWD" subgroup if they had an IEP at any time during the school year. The FS151 file also includes students who earned their HiSet and who graduated with a Certificate of Attendance. These two files shouldn't be compared, they aren't looking at the same cohorts of students.
2020-2021 NEW MEXICO 151 696 Performance Four-Year Cohort Count to IDEA Exiting Comparison: The number of CWD Four-Year Cohort graduates reported in FS151 does not match the number of students reported as having graduated with a regular high school diploma in FS 009. The discrepancy comprises 767 students and is a difference of 29.25%. The data submitted in FS009 reflect the number of CWD exiters at the end of SY 2020-21. The data of graduates in FS151 are the number of students that complete their coursework and are verified by LEAs after the end of the student's senior year summer semester.

2020-2021 NEW YORK 179 585 Performance Achievement SEA to SCH comparison - [SCIENCE]: The SEA FS179 number of students in the Asian subgroup who took a(n) alternate assessment based on alternate achievement standards and received a valid score for GRADE(S) ALL is different from the sum of the SCH level counts of students who took an assessment and received a valid score (FS179). The discrepancy is 22 students, or -67.86%. In NY, it is not appropriate to compare SCH level files to SEA level files. SCH files do not include students in out-of-district placements, while SEA files do.
2020-2021 SOUTH DAKOTA 179, 189 585, 590 Performance Across file comparison [SCIENCE]: The FS179 SEA number of students in the male subgroup who took a(n) alternate assessment based on alternate achievement standards and received a valid score for GRADE(S) ALL, 5, 8 does not equal the FS189 number of students who participated in the assessment. The discrepancy is 56 to 165 students, or 100.00%.
2020-2021 ILLINOIS 179 585 Performance Data were not reported at the SEA/LEA/SCH level for FS179/DG585. Assessments were given late and therefore data submitted in December was missing a substantial proportion of the total records. We have resubmitted the most up-to-date data. However, it is still being finalized and can change between now and end of April.
