2020-2021 MONTANA 179, 189 585, 590 Performance Across file comparison [SCIENCE]: The FS179 SEA number of students in the female, economically disadvantaged subgroups who took a(n) ALL, alternate assessment based on alternate achievement standards, regular assessment with accommodations, regular assessment without accommodations and received a valid score for GRADE(S) ALL does not equal the FS189 number of students who participated in the assessment. The discrepancies range from 88 to 9692 students, or 67.74 to 100.00%. Similar discrepancies exist at the LEA and SCH levels. For the “ECODIS” (Economically disadvantaged), the OPI has used free/reduced meal information as a proxy for the status of “economically disadvantaged” within its accountability and reporting systems and federally reports information for free meals, reduced price meals, and not eligible or not participating. The participation results were lower and more variable than in past years likely due to uneven opportunities across schools and student groups. Some students, such as students from low-income families were likely hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic due to having fewer resources and supports. In addition, the Free/Reduced Application (or FRAM) process for meal applications due to the pandemic has changed substantially. School Nutrition did not require the income eligible applications be returned, therefore the Economically Disadvantaged numbers were lower than in previous years.
