The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the collection and reporting of data on EDE, beginning in SY 2019-20. The Department urges abundant caution when using the data and recommends reviewing the relevant data notes prior to use or interpretation. This includes data on state assessments, graduation rates, and chronic absenteeism.

2020-2021 CALIFORNIA 127 657 Participation Category Set Comparison: In 1 LEA(s), the sum of the Category Set B [N or D Program (Subpart 2), Sex] does not equal Subtotal 1 [N or D Program (Subpart 2) for the following N or D Programs [Subpart 2]: NEGLECT. These two counts should equal. This is correct. Effective SY2019-20, the California Department of Education collects a third gender option, 'X' or Nonbinary. In files where gender is a required data element, the education unit total (EUT) and the sums of the subtotals that includes sex/gender will not match.
2020-2021 CALIFORNIA 127 657 Participation Year to Year Comparison: The sum of the unduplicated counts of students reported in Subtotal 1 at the LEA-level in FS126/DG657 changed by 50 percent or more between the prior year and current year for the following program type: NEGLECT . The data are accurate. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, institutions experienced a significant drop in neglected student counts.
2020-2021 COLORADO 127 657 Participation Year to Year Comparison: The SEA-level data indicate a change of -57.1% between the current school year number of long-term students who showed improvement of up to one full grade level or more on mathematics pre- and post- test and the prior school year number of long-term students who showed improvement of up to one full grade level or more on mathematics pre- and post- test for the following N or D Programs (Subpart 1): ADLTCORR. The data are accurate as reported. CO reported NEGLECT and JUVDET as program types for the first time in 2020/21. Additionally, CO did not report the ATRISK program type in 2020/21. Due to the added JUVDET program type for some LEAs in 2020/21, the JUVCORR program type counts for those LEAs decreased as expected.

2020-2021 ILLINOIS 125, 127 629, 657 Performance Across File Comparison: In 2 LEA(s), the total number of long-term students served (Category Set F) reported at the LEA-level in FS127/DG657 is less than the sum of students with pre- and post- test results for mathematics (Category Set A) reported at the LEA-level in FS125/DG629. The current data available from LEAs does not allow us to determine long-term status for individual students. The long-term students reported in FS113 were reported to us by the LEAs as an aggregate These counts are accurate based on best available data.
2020-2021 INDIANA 125, 127 629, 657 Performance Across File Comparison: In 1 LEA(s), the total number of long-term students served (Category Set F) reported at the LEA-level in FS127/DG657 is less than the sum of students with pre- and post- test results for reading/language arts (Category Set A) reported at the LEA-level in FS125/DG629.
2020-2021 INDIANA 125 629 Performance In 1 LEA(s), no data or all zeros were reported for the sum of students with pre- and post-test results in reading/language arts for the following N or D Programs (Subpart 2): JUVDET. One LEA does not conduct post testing as it is much too fluid of an environment and have found that collecting and analyzing previous student records is more effective than using the NWEA assesssment when the student is placed. There is no data to report for this LEA.
