Data Download Tool
Steps for downloading the data you need (For more details, go to FAQs)
- Use the filters to the left to choose your data of interest (Tip: For File Specification and Data Group filters, hover over titles for more information)
- Select "RESET FILTERS" at any time to return to the default filters
- Once you have selected the data you need, click on the "DOWNLOAD DATA" button to download CSV and data notes. Your data will export immediately.
Due to current system issues, datasets must be limited to fewer than 150,000 rows. A selection of data greater than 150,000 rows may result in a truncated dataset. In addition, as you filter for your preferred dataset, the filters may disappear, or the page may appear blank. Please refresh the page or try again in a few minutes as the page is set to update every 5 minutes. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
ATTENTION returning users: To improve site performance, the default for this page has changed to one state only.
Please choose all your filters of interest BEFORE updating the state filter to your state of interest. If you want to download all states in a file after choosing your other filters of interest, choose 'Deselect All' in the state filter. The boxes will remain empty, but all states will be in your dataset.
Your query returned no results.

2022-2023, 2021-2022, 2020-2021 | ALL STATES | 195, 195PCT | 814PCT | SEA, LEA, SCH | Methods notes: The values for ‘percent chronically absent students’ are calculated by number of chronically absent students (FS195/DG814) divided by number of students in the school—or ‘membership’ in the school (FS052/DG39). Interpretation of results should consider inconsistences between the two datasets, how the dataset universe was defined for this analysis, and transformation/suppression decisions. (1) Inconsistencies with the dataset: Membership data is collected at one point in time, whereas chronic absenteeism data is collected over the school year. Double counting may occur with the chronic absenteeism data which can inflate the percentage. (2) Defining the universe:(a) The membership and chronic absenteeism data were merged at the school level, and then rolled up for LEA and SEA analyses. (b) As chronic absenteeism data provides data for students in K-12 only, preK and adult education were excluded from membership, (c) Schools with 0 students in the membership dataset were excluded. (3) Transformation/suppression was applied with the following conditions :(a) Percent chronic absenteeism between 100-200 – set percent chronic absenteeism to 100. (b) Percent chronic absenteeism over 200 and membership is less than or equal to 50 students, set percent chronic absenteeism to 100(c) Percent chronic absenteeism is over 200 and membership is greater than 50, suppress chronic absenteeism.
2022-2023, 2021-2022, 2020-2021 | ALL STATES | 195 | 814, 814PCT | SEA | The download tool currently only provides chronic absenteeism data at the SEA level for school years 2020-2021, 2021-2022, and 2022-2023. For chronic absenteeism files with data for the LEA and school levels, please go to the resource section of EDE, and select the green button 'Chronic Absenteeism Data' on the 'Reports and Files' blue tab. That will take you to a page that allows you do download zip files that includes chronic absenteeism data files at all levels for a specific school year.
2022-2023, 2021-2022, 2020-2021, 2019-2020, 2018-2019 | ALL STATES | 195 | 814, 814PCT | SEA, LEA, SCH | The school-level data for FS195/DG814 are privacy protected via perturbation. The data are protected by adding or subtracting one student for cell sizes less than or equal to four and random data swapping for cell sizes less than or equal to three. | The state notes in all sections of ED Data Express reflect the views of the state only and do not necessarily reflect compliance with requirements or consistency with reporting instructions. |
2022-2023, 2021-2022, 2020-2021 | ALL STATES | 150, 151 | 697, 698, 755, 766 | SEA | Only states that have adopted one or more extended-year ACGRs as part of the State's approved ESEA consolidated State plan report the adopted extended-year ACGRs via File Specification 150|151. States that do not have approved extended-year rates as part of their State's approved ESEA consolidated State plan do not report. | The state notes in all sections of ED Data Express reflect the views of the state only and do no necessarily reflect compliance with requirements or consistency with reporting instructions. |
2022-2023, 2021-2022, 2020-2021, 2019-2020, 2018-2019 | ALL STATES | 195 | 814, 814PCT | SEA, LEA, SCH | Data for FS195/DG814 are reported at the school level. For ED Data Express, the Department has aggregated the data to the LEA and SEA level for user convenience. Aggregated data are impacted by quality issues in the source data, which, in this case, are the school level. Also, student counts may be duplicative. Students are reported in each school in which they are enrolled and absent 10% or more school days during the school year. As a result, students who are defined and reported as chronically absent at more than one school in a given school year will be counted more than once when aggregated up to the LEA, SEA, and national levels. | The state notes in all sections of ED Data Express reflect the views of the state only and do no necessarily reflect compliance with requirements or consistency with reporting instructions. |
2022-2023 | ALABAMA | 150 | 695 | SEA | The current SY Four-Year graduation rate is higher/lower by 3 percentage points or more than the prior SY Four-Year graduation rate for the following subgroups with total cohort counts of 500 students or more: CWD: 4% ECODIS: 4% HOM: 6% LEP: 4% MAN: 4% | The ACGR-0083 reflects data reviewed and certified by each LEA as accurate. |
2022-2023 | ALABAMA | 185 | 881 | SEA | Less than 95 percent of students were reported as participating in the HS data group in the Assessment Participation in Mathematics file for Major Racial and Ethnic Groups (Category Set A), Disability Status (Only) (Category Set C), English Learner Status (Only) (Category Set D), Homeless Enrolled Status (Category Set G), and Foster Care Status (Category Set H). | The assessment data are correct. We are working with districts to address subgroup participation rates below the 95% threshhold. |
2022-2023 | ALABAMA | 189 | 884, 885 | SEA, LEA, SCH | Please see state comment for additional information regarding the state’s data submission | SY2023 was the first year that Medicaid students were incorporated into the Direct Certification process. This inclusion enabled the ALSDE to identify a greater number of economically disadvantaged students without the use of forms or income applications. Homeless (HOM) subgroup numbers: Student Assessment data are matched to 9th-month enrollment, and all demographic data used to identify subgroups come from the latter file. A significant increase in Homeless enrollment is largely due to more Local Education Agencies (LEAs) identifying children and youth that qualify for homeless education services, increasing professional development for determining eligibility, and post-COVID strategies put in place to ensure LEAs submit unduplicated data in the States reporting portals. |
2022-2023 | ALABAMA | 188 | 883 | SEA | Less than 95 percent of students were reported as participating in the HS data group in the Assessment Participation in Reading/Language Arts file for Major Racial and Ethnic Groups (Category Set A), Sex (Membership) (Category Set B), Disability Status (Only) (Category Set C), English Learner Status (Only) (Category Set D), Economically Disadvantaged Status (Category Set E), Migratory Status (Category Set F), Homeless Enrolled Status (Category Set G), and Foster Care Status (Category Set H). | The assessment data are correct. We are working with districts to address subgroup participation rates below the 95% threshold. |
2022-2023 | ALABAMA | 185, 188 | 880, 882 | SEA | The sum of the Grades 3-8 data group in the Assessment Participation in Mathematics file was not similar to the sum of the Grades 3-8 data group in the Assessment Participation in Reading/Language Arts file for one or more participation status, grade level and subgroup combinations. | Assessment data are correct. The difference can be accounted for by our policy to exempt first-year English learners from the ELA assessment. |
