In 2011-12, Florida was in a transition year to replace the FCAT Science Assessment with the state's Biology I EOC Assessment. In 2011-12, FCAT Science was discontinued at the high school level, and the Biology 1 EOC Assessment was in its baseline year and did not yet have achievement level cut scores set.Florida's high school 1213 science now includes a Biology end-of-course assessment.

In 2011-12, Florida was in a transition year to replace the FCAT Science Assessment with the state's Biology I EOC Assessment.  In 2011-12, FCAT Science was discontinued at the high school level, and the Biology 1 EOC Assessment was in its baseline year and did not yet have achievement level cut scores set.

For the 2011-2012 school year, Georgia changed the state standardized assessment for high school students from the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) to the End-of-Course Assessments (EOCT) and the EOCT have more rigorous standards. Also note that the GHSGT was given to 11th graders only, whereas the EOCT for a course can be given in multiple grades.  

This was the first year that the Biology I end-of-course assessment was used as the high school assessment.  Only students who enrolled in the Biology I course were required to take the end-of-course assessment.

The State of Idaho has transitioned to using the ISEE (Idaho System for Educational Excellence) System as its source of information for student demographic information. Districts upload student information monthly into the ISEE database. The database is then uploaded into the accountability site where schools appeal any demographic information that is erroneous. 

The percentages are lower than the previous year's report because the cut score was reset in 2013.

For SY 2010-11, Indiana included students that took Biology test only when they were enrolled at Grade 10. For 2011-12, Indiana also included students that took Biology test at either Grade 09 or 10. This is consistent with the logic Indiana have been using for reporting data for high school Math and Language Arts.

The change in the high school assessment to an end of course test during the 2011-12 school year reduced the number of students who tested.
The number of students who tested in math is significantly higher than the number of students who tested in ELA and science because two subjects (Algebra I and Geometry) are tested in high school for math, and only one each for ELA (English II) and science (Biology I).

Large decreases in percent proficient across all subgroups and in the all students group are due to the adoption of more stringent Career and College Ready (CCR) cut scores for determining proficiency on standard assessments. The Native Hawaiian group is not included due to an oversight and will be corrected.
