2017-2018 DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 151 696 SEA The total cohort count (Grand Total) changed by more than 10% (and more than 250 students) from SY 2016-17 to SY 2017-18 for the following subgroups: Economically Disadvantaged Students. Discrepancies by subgroup: Economically Disadvantaged: -755 students, or -18.46% Under ESSA, OSSE adopted a new definition for economically disadvantaged. These data reflect this change in definition and associated methodology and are expected.
2017-2018 DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 150 695 SEA The SY 2017-18 Four-Year graduation rate is higher/lower by 3 percentage points or more than the SY 2016-17 Four-Year graduation rate for the following subgroups with total cohort counts of 500 students or more: All Students, Economically Disadvantaged, English Learners, Asian/Pacific Islander, Black or African American, Hispanic/Latino, White or Caucasian (Not Hispanic), and Children with Disabilities. ED Note: State indicated that data were correct as reported. DCPS reported a lower graduation rate in SY 2017-18 compared to SY 2016-17; this change drove much of the observed state-level changes as DCPS students comprise approximately half of all DC students.
2017-2018 DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA 203 839 SEA The sum of teachers by Inexperienced status does not equal the total of the education unit. Please use caution when using the state's data. There were some teachers for whom inexperienced status could not be ascertained from data provided by LEAs; despite multiple attempts to secure the necessary data from LEAs, experience level is missing in some instances.

Out of field status is only provided for the one traditional public school district in DC, as charter school districts are not required by state law to be certified.
