The Department urges abundant caution when using the data and recommends reviewing the relevant data notes prior to use or interpretation. This includes data on state assessments, graduation rates, and chronic absenteeism.

2020-2021 MAINE 145 684 Participation Year to Year Comparison: The total number of eligible migratory students enrolled in public schools during the regular school year changed by 25% or more between the current year and the prior school year. The Maine Migrant Education Program recruited significantly more students during the 2020-2021 performance period compared to the 2019-2020 performance period. The Maine Migrant Education Program recruited significantly fewer students during the 2019-2020 performance period because of the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on the blueberry harvest. During the 2020-2021 performance period, though, many more families and individuals moved to Maine to work in the blueberry harvest, therefore increasing the numbers of migratory children recruited. Since there were more migratory children moving to Maine to work in the blueberry harvest, the Maine Migrant Education Program served more of these students during the 2020-2021 performance period.
2020-2021 MISSOURI 145 684 Participation Year to Year Comparison: The total number of eligible migratory students enrolled in public schools during the regular school year changed by 25% or more between the current year and the prior school year. The data provided are accurate according to Missouri's records of students served in Title I.C Migrant Education funded programs. A analysis of the agricultural industry in Missouri in the fall of 2019 and the fall of 2020 showed significantly more activity in 19-20 than 20-21 due the COVID-19 pandemic and an extreme lack of available labor. Almost all agricultural activities suffered from labor shortages during the 2020-2021 reporting period.
2020-2021 NEVADA 145 684 Participation Year to Year Comparison: The total number of eligible migratory students enrolled in public schools during the regular school year changed by 25% or more between the current year and the prior school year. In Nevada our largest Migrant district, Nye, saw a significant decrease in their Migrant population due to many seeking employment in a different industry that offered a cash salary.
