Data Download Tool
Steps for downloading the data you need (For more details, go to FAQs)
- Use the filters to the left to choose your data of interest (Tip: For File Specification and Data Group filters, hover over titles for more information)
- Select "RESET FILTERS" at any time to return to the default filters
- Once you have selected the data you need, click on the "DOWNLOAD DATA" button to download CSV and data notes. Your data will export immediately.
Note on download size: If the current size of the dataset exceeds 250,000 rows, the Department recommends that you use filters to reduce the size of the file (e.g. select a subset of states) and download the file in batches. A file that exceeds 1 million rows will not download completely.
ATTENTION returning users: To improve site performance, the default for this page has changed to one state only.
Please choose all your filters of interest BEFORE updating the state filter to your state of interest. If you want to download all states in a file after choosing your other filters of interest, choose 'Deselect All' in the state filter. The boxes will remain empty, but all states will be in your dataset.

2020-2021, 2019-2020 | ALL STATES | 127, 119 | 656, 657 | LEA, SEA | COVID-19 impacted states' ability to collect and report data. 2020-2021 | ALL STATES | 175, 179, 178, 185, 188, 189 | 583, 584, 585, 588, 589, 590 | LEA, SCH, SEA | ED recommends users of the SY 2020-21 Assessment Data review the data notes and state explanations to understand the full context of state, local, and school implementation of the statewide assessments. Due to the circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic, ED waived the reporting of the statewide assessments in the 2019-2020 school year and encouraged states to consider flexibilities regarding the timing, length, and type of administration of assessments in the 2020-2021 school year. Please be sure to review ED's letter at https/oese.ed.gov/files/2021/02/DCL-on-assessments-and-acct-final.pdf regarding assessments for 2020-21. Statewide assessments were administered in most States in 2020-21 but, due to continued disruptions from the pandemic, rates of participation varied widely in schools throughout the country. Because assessment participation varied so widely, overall results for schools, districts and States may not be representative for those entities, and data for the school year 2020-2021 data may not be comparable with other years. | The state notes in all sections of ED Data Express reflect the views of the state only and do not necessarily reflect compliance with requirements or consistency with reporting instructions. |

2020-2021, 2019-2020, 2018-2019, 2017-2018, 2016-2017, 2015-2016, 2014-2015, 2013-2014, 2012-2013, 2011-2012, 2010-2011 | ALL STATES | 127, 125 | 629, 657 | SEA | Data for FS125/DG629 and FS127/DG657 are reported at the LEA level. For ED Data Express, the Department has aggregated the data to the SEA and United States level for user convenience. Aggregated data are impacted by quality issues in the source data, which, in this case, are the LEA data. Before conducting analysis with the SEA or United States level data, users should consult the LEA level data notes for the relevant file specifications or data groups. | The state notes in all sections of ED Data Express reflect the views of the state only and do not necessarily reflect compliance with requirements or consistency with reporting instructions |
